The 2nd annual Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival is happening October 20 & 21. A rootsicana newgrassy folkadelic high desert camping experience. Martha Scanlan of Reeltime Travelers fame, and Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band are recent additions to the stellar group of artists performing at the festival. Two stages alternate throughout the weekend, so the music is continuous; you won't miss a show. Dance under the stars in the shadows of the National Park.

Early bird two day festival passes are only $50 until Sunday at midnight (then $65). To buy tix & make camping reservations, log onto:

My Favorite Part of Joshua Tree '06 was....

Mojow and the Vibration Army!!! My booth was on the path between the two stages and I got to enjoy the parade every evening, plus some random times in between as well! I think Mojow and his sax and his beat box and his beautiful wife have got it goin on! they are off the hook for sure!

I also liked:
Yoga--the teacher said "Now turn your attention inward to the third eye...and off in the distance I hear "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"....yeah that's how I feel, too!

Kinky--I had heard a lot of buzz about them-now I know why!
New Monsoon- my new favorite!
Particle- With ROBBIE KRIEGER!!!! Oh! MY! GODDESS!!! I felt history being made!!
Lotus, Toubab Krew and Panjea--new bellydance music! My dance sistahs will be blown away!!!
Soul of John Black and Samantha Stollenwerck- be prepared, you will hear a lot more from these talented people!

Guyaki----not only was the raspberry mate tea the best drink of the weekend, they had a guy in a SPEEDO giving out samples!!!
My dear neighbors, Kathi and Jim of Simply Stylish, my booth would have blown away if not for them!
Amy the Zookeeper- you were the best and I hope to see you next time!!!
All the security staff and volunteers- Not once during the entire weekend did I see anything get out of hand (except for maybe a couple of squirtgun fights) nor did I see any police activity, except for at the bitter end, when, tired and gritty, I pissed off the Karma Police and got a ticket--- fine: One big cup of "shut the fuck up"!!! Yeah, I deserved that!
Oh yeah:
MEN IN SARONGS!!! MORE MEN IN SARONGS!!!! GUYS IN SKIRTS!!!! GUYS IN NIGHTGOWNS! And a few men in kilts, which are ok, too!
Thanks for everything, hope to be back next time!
